Most games you can crack and skip but some games like Lost Planet 2 need updates that only come from GFWL servers :( Microsoft stupidly blocks the 2 GFWL processes without the prompt coming up asking you to unlock it and it will get stuck here unless you unblock. HERE is where it will stall if you have the firewall running. This takes forever (5-10 minutes!) since they are running the remaining servers on a 286 or something. Sign-in and a “Please wait” thing will spin. When you start the game press Home key for the overlay to come down. Not sure if it helped but I also opened an administrator command prompt and copied xlive*.* from c:\windows\syswow64 to c:\windows\system32 Steamapps\common\Section 8 Prejudice\Binaries\Win32 <-goodĭisable Windows firewall completely and/or allow GFWLClient.exe and GFWLive.exe both through the firewallĭefault location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE\Client Steamapps\common\Section 8 Prejudice <-bad Note for Section 8: Prejudice, you have to put in the BINARIES\WIN32 subfolder of the Steam game folder:

Street Fighter X Tekken has a community patch that removes GFWL and adds all DLC but it’s either online play w/o DLC or offline with all DLC: Lost Planet 2 (needs SMT disabled on Ryzen or any AMD multicore system with more than 4 cores, using Ryzen Master’s Legacy Compatibility mode) GTA IV and GTA IV Liberty City Stories: both still have and install GFWL but don’t ask for CD keys anymore instead prompt for…an Xbox account dialog that you can proceed past. I was bored over Christmas and re-downloaded most (10TB!) of my Steam library to a reinstalled Windows and had to get some of the games reactivated and working again: GFWL in 2020, hope this helps someone like with this accursed DRM:
